NAGM Articles / NAGM News Posted by Admin on June 02, 2005 - 01:37 PM I hope that all of you that attended last weekends NAGM @ the Hilton Waikaloa have recovered from the busy weekend. All in all we all should be very proud of the event we hosted. Everyone that I spoke with, from national staff to all of the visiting RC's, AD"s and SD"s from around the country had nothing but accolades for the meeting. There are no words to thank you all for what you have done, you all were outstanding!!Special thanks to: Kona and North Hawaii for all of their volunteers that manned the check in. Alan & Lyllis Heu for providing and coordinating the Hawaiian music and videos for meeting. Cathy Sawada for picking up the leis and Lyllis and Cristi Stewart for giving the leis to the section directors and members of the NBOD. I had one national board member tell me that receiving the lei was one of the highlights of his trip. As you may know Section Seven was again chosen as the National Section of the year, the second time in three years we received this high honor.Section Seven also became the first recipient of the new traveling trophy created for Section of the Year. The Rick Davis Cup has been named after the AYSO Director of Programs, who is a member of the AYSO and National Soccer Halls of Fame. Rick started playing AYSO in 1965 and went on to a distinguished career in professional soccer. The Section was also given a $1000.00 check from National as section of the year. I have designated that this money award be earmarked for the section VIP program. Area 7/O, and the Area Director Alan Heu were also a finalist for the National Area of the year. The following were elected to the National Board of Directors Paula Berriz – Section Ten Director Burt Haimes – Chairman of the NBOD Mark Stewart – Section Seven Director (yep that 's me) Mike Wade – former Area 11-Q Director Delegates also reelected Pete MacPhail as president for the coming year. I am looking forward to serving you all as a new member of the NBOD. I will work hard on your behalf and try to show the rest of the country and the National board and staff why section seven is no ka oi. Best to all, and again thanks for all you do.
