Aloha Everyone,
As you are all aware, we are facing unprecedented times. The World Health Organization’s declaration of the COVID-19 virus as a pandemic has forced us to review social gatherings of any kind, which may possibly further the spread.
The 2020 Kirk Banks Tournament has also been constantly assessing the situation to determine the best course of action for our Section 7 ohana, players, volunteers and families.
In light of the present world-wide situation, along with the most current recommendations from our AYSO National office, it was with a heavy heart that we decided to postpone the 2020 Kirk Banks Tournament until further notice. We did not make this decision lightly, but believe it is best course of action given the present situation we are all facing.
We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, especially to our Neighbor Island teams. Please know the health, safety and well-being of our players, coaches, referees, families and fans are paramount and foremost in our minds.
On behalf of the Kirk Banks Tournament staff and myself, we thank each and every one of you for your patience, support and understanding during these uncertain times.
All tournament fees and deposits will be returned to the Regions as soon as possible.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Stay well everyone.
Kent Goya, Director
2020 AYSO Kirk Banks Tournament

*****
We hope this email finds you well. We understand your concern in light of the Coronavirus outbreak and want you to know that AYSO is assessing the situation in its entirety to determine the best-informed course of action for our players, volunteers and families.
This is a dynamic and fluid situation and appreciate your patience and understanding. The safety and well-being of our membership is of the highest priority, so in light of the California Department of Public Health's recommendation that gatherings of 250 or more be postponed or cancelled, AYSO has taking the following actions regarding upcoming events and is providing the following recommendations for your local events.
We have cancelled the Western States Games and the Section 1/10/11 EXPO and are evaluating other AYSO run events as information unfolds.
We recommend that if you have tournaments or large special events scheduled, you consider postponing them to April or May respectively.
We understand that this creates a bit of uncertainty but please let your families know that we are monitoring the situation daily and will have a recommended action plan for your programs in short order.
In regards to the outbreak, we encourage you to follow the preventive measures recommended by the CDC to help stem the spread, which can be found here: https://www.aysovolunteers.org/coronavirus-update-and-prevention-tips/. We also recommend that you stay in contact with your local school districts as well as you local and state departments of Public Health. Our goal is to provide all members with timely and relevant information on Coronavirus.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you,
The AYSO Office
